I can share that it was a legacy company that saw a future in a new area, and that was the role played here, to architect that on the project. I think your comment shares a lot of good merit though, and thought. I will try to think about how I can share details about projects without disclosing or eluding to anything specific to the companies involved. Thank you for your comment and feedback. If you have specific discussion topics or questions in general, or things that you might want to have a conversation about about anything in general, please let me know. I would love to discuss things, i don't know what might be of interest. Thank you for reading also! :)

Re: the build: the close

Will you ever give a semi-concrete description of a project you are working on? It's a question between critical mass vs network effects. I think there's a still a strong case for "Pay For" services and platforms with clear and sustainable business models turning out good.

Re: the build: yahoo

Yeah ..

Re: the build: yahoo

thank you for your comment. i think, yahoo ceo doesn't hold enough of the cards, which has also seemed to be a bit of yahoo's problem

Re: the build: yahoo

Have you heard of yahoo search ? Nahhh .. I wonder if people still use its features like maps, places, reviews, news etc allowing an exception for tumblr. Which I love the most.

And the new CEO is too lazy to make any tremendious changes in the company. They are what I call 'Ad-Suckers'. look at google they do the same but atleast they care for their other products & services. Unlike yahoo which seems to deliberately give a blind eye.

Re: just saying

Yeah, saw the interview on Charlie Rose. EVERY decision we make daily has the ability to change the world for better or worse. Reaching out to other human beings has been almost bred out of the human being. Doing what you did will help bring back the humanness of us human beings. I was recently standing in line at a convenience store and people were buying lotto tickets, etc. The clerk was slow and methodical in doing his job, so naturally I was getting impatient and thinking he was just lazy and slow. When I finally got to the counter he asked me "How are you doing". It was like getting slapped in the face, a slap that I needed. I smiled and thanked him for asking and we discussed how human interaction is almost startling for the individual in today's world. I shook his hand and told him to KEEP ON STARTLING PEOPLE! Whatever it takes to start acting like human beings again, will change our world. Keep up the good work!!

Re: this

We all should be doing a lot more of that. Thank you. I think Blackberry held that enterprise position initially because there weren't a lot of robust devices during that time for email and other internet-connected use, which also at that time was still predominantly used by business users versus consumers. This has shifted, but it is true that it's unlikely Blackberry can gain back that predominantly enterprise position as the market overall has shifted from that to include both business and consumer. But it could potentially cut into the combined market depending on marketing, and what kind of devices it makes. There are huge gray areas for things that connect to the internet. Some are in the minds of others in the market that make devices, some are not. Whether or not Blackberry can see the gray areas here is what will matter if a comeback for the company is remotely a possibility. Price is ultimately the driver in commodity business, so eventually all the devices in the category will be in that game. We're far away from the category being where it is going to be, so lots of room and gray areas but only for the quick, smart and crafty :)

Re: blackberry

Blackberry has long been gripping the edge of the cliff and very unlikely will regain the position they once held. Co-founders held their positions far past their due date, their cornerstone product targeted to enterprise deployment and they thought they could repackage the same product to the consumer market (short-lived success). Now they are hanging their hat on services. I hope they recover, they have been a big part of my tech community (location-wise and with many former colleagues/friends working their) for almost 15 years but they just miss the boat all the time. They need to get picked up by someone.

Re: Japan Needs Help

The following article describes mitigation efforts: http://www.world-nuclear-ne...

Re: interesting

The software engineer and I discussing the technology referenced used the word 'scan' as it seeks or looks for keywords and other variables specifically on the profile to filter applicants. It's not FB, it's a third party app, that is doing it, and while it may not be 'scary' to you, a job seeker or somebody who is sharing bank details might feel otherwise. Point is, it's worth anticipating the awareness and existence of such things may hinder user adoption which is fair to say and that was the purpose of today's post. Aside of this I was on a team that built a pretty interesting Facebook app and while nothing like this above was necessary, it was pretty fascinating what we could scrape off the site. Thanks for your comment!

Re: interesting

FB doesn't "scan" your profile. Instead, when you auth into a site using FB, the service can access any of the data from your profile that you've made available via the privacy settings. Really, it's not *that* scary!

Re: condiment on medium: making anywhere home

Hi there, one of the new popping is the new social ecommerce platform that based on social networks. like Nerover and it stil used paypal as a payment method.

Re: interesting

I find PayPal to be a convenient payment method when my credit card is not close by.
